I was surfing through my Twitter feed one evening when I saw a Shailene Woodley’s face beside the faces of Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. Though I probably wouldn’t pause for Kelly and Carrie, I paused for a second when I saw Shailene’s face because I have been a huge of fan of her since I saw her in The Descendants alongside George Clooney. What really got me curious to look at the post further were the words, “Please tell me this is a joke,” above the picture. Then, I read the words beside Shailene’s face as she was quoted as saying, “The word ‘feminist’ is a word that discriminates, and I’m not into that.” I saw that the radical Feminists had begun the attack against another public woman. Radical feminists have perverted the word so much that it has come to stand for division instead of equality.
You probably know me well by now if you’ve read my article about Kaley Cuoco and the attacks she received for also not identifying with that label; I believe these attacks by SJWs are harmful to actual women’s rights because the exclusion of many types of women discourages freedom and creates a cult-like atmosphere that more and more women do not want to be apart of. Women should not have to live by the “feminist” label or face discrimination and hatred from their fellow female; it does not define most of us because it has come to mean something negative and detrimental to women.
It excludes many of us instead of fighting for true freedom. The mainstream media has apparently become infected with this same virus. My anger of course exploded again when I saw yet another talented woman bravely fighting against the “feminist” label attacked for taking a stance in favor of true equality and not division. The women’s rights cause has gradually been polluted because it’s publicly fronted by SJW radicals, who are often just bullies and shills that like to think of themselves as an army. Women who favor true equality and dare to stand up for men just as much as their fellow woman, are dismissed as ignorant or possessing an inner-hatred of themselves and their own femininity. It is disgusting that women cannot choose to reject a label forced upon us by SJWs and instead choose to define ourselves without our credentials as actual women being called into question.
After going to Twitter to share my disgust about Shailene’s attack by encouraging people to speak out for women like her who have the courage to stand up the radical Feminists, I was recently pleased to discover that she has decided to not back down on her quotes about being defined by the label ‘Feminist’ despite the attacks against her. Her words being used against her truly highlight just how radical these mainstream Feminists have become; her comments are nothing short of encouraging true freedom for women. She does not even bother to go into detail about lifestyle choices likeKaley Cuoco did.
Here are some of her past quotes in case you haven’t read them. When she was asked if she considered herself a feminist, Woodley replied:
“No because I love men, and I think the idea of ‘raise women to power, take the men away from the power’ is never going to work out because you need balance. With myself, I’m very in touch with my masculine side. And I’m 50% feminine and 50% masculine, same as I think a lot of us are. And I think that is important to note. And also I think that if men went down and women rose to power, that wouldn’t work either. We have to have a fine balance.”
She responded to the criticism of her comments against mainstream feminism by saying:
“I mean, if we spent as much energy focusing on the genocide that’s going on right now in parts of Africa as we spent on that one article, think about what we could accomplish. Change is not going to come from focusing on the small things that actors say.”
Most recently, Shailene has confirmed she intends to stand behind her comments by stating, “The reason why I don’t like to say that I am a feminist or I am not a feminist is because to me it’s still a label. I do not want to be defined by one thing. Why do we have to have that label to divide us? We should all be able to embrace one another regardless of our belief system and regardless of the labels that we have put upon ourselves.” Therefore, Shailene is another example of a woman that refuses to be defined by the label because because they do not represent true feminism, which is actual equality and the freedom to define some of your own femininity, even if you choose to also be defined by what is typically considered masculinity. She is yet another example of an intelligent, talented, beautiful, and sensible woman being excluded from a movement that claims to represent all women, simply because she refuses to be defined the way the radical feminists want her to define herself. She is yet another woman that clearly recognizes that these SJWs who masquerade as “feminists” are in fact only out for themselves. They are completely useless when it comes to creating positive change.
Her example should be applauded by people like us because these are the true warriors, those that are willing to courageously oppose the extremists publicly and face the resulting condemnation from many of their peers as well as the mainstream media. Yet, women like Shailene and Kaley are so disgusted by the hypocrisy and the damage done by these hateful activists that they still choose to speak out against them, even at the risk of being portrayed negatively. If that isn’t encouraging as well as inspiring for GamerGate and other movements opposed to radical feminism and its negative effects, then I do not know what is.
