A former unpaid contributor to my site, Lane Davis, stands accused of killing his father. My condolences go out to his family. The rush to score points against me, while completely expected, is also completely ridiculous. I’m only responsible for my own actions. I also lack the ability to predict future murders. This isn’t Minority Report.

Obviously, as I’ve said before, I condemn unjustified killings and political violence of any sort. Mr. Davis will have to answer for his own heinous action in a court of law. I hope his family can one day move past this horrific tragedy. They have an incredibility difficult path ahead, one that I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy.

This case is a reminder that sometimes we should take a step back, and remember that politics aren’t everything. Don’t let them ruin relationships with your friends and family. It’s not worth it. Hug those around you that you love a little closer tonight, especially loved ones that you disagree with politically. Lord knows I wish I could embrace my wife and mother right now. So, don’t take it for granted.

I expect the memes and attacks to continue. It’s the internet, after all. By all means, enjoy it. I would be a hypocrite to say otherwise. But I hope some of you will spare a thought and/or a prayer for the Davis family.

I look forward to returning to my editor-in-chief duties on February 2nd. I know my wife does as well, especially on a day like today.

Farewell, for now, my friends. As always, the haters can eat shit. Nothing on this Earth will deter me from coming back stronger than before.

Sincerely,

Ethan Ralph.
