I’ve been so tied up in personal shit that I haven’t gotten to talk about Based Stick Man and the drama surrounding it. A short breakdown goes something like this:

There were dueling protests at Berkeley the other day in response to the drama from last month. Things got out of hand and a dressed up like some cyberpunk version of Captain America cracked the skull of some antifa lackey. Judging by the video, it’s not clear if it was an offensive or a defensive maneuver. I tend to lean toward the defensive designation, but I’ll let you all make up your minds individually.

And here’s a longer YouTube video…

Actually, after watching the longer clip, it looks like both sides were kind of engaged in a team battle. So, I don’t know if you could call it defensive. Mutually offensive might be the better designation. Either way, I don’t think it’s worth the five felony counts this guy is now facing, especially if he’s the only one who has been charged so severely.

Anyway, we’ll see what happens on those. The point of that little background lesson was so we could talk about the main topic, which is David Duke’s suspension from Twitter. He styles himself as a doctor, although I believe that’s in dispute by some of his political enemies. Perhaps his doctorate is in Thuganomics, like John Cena’s. Regardless, the guy is extremely controversial here in the United States.

Memes like these might help to explain the reason…

Still, regardless of what one thinks of the man, he’s been on Twitter for awhile. To my knowledge, he had never been suspended. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong on that. But early this morning he tweeted out an image of the Based Stick Man (real name Kyle Chapman) that apparently went too far for the powers that be at Twitter.com.

You see David Sherratt (aka spinosauruskin) there calling this incitement, which I’m not sure of, to be honest. I mean, if you’re applying the term loosely, perhaps. But it could also be called comedy. It’s probably fair to call it borderline, though. Personally, I think perhaps locking his account and making him delete the offending tweet would probably be enough, but I imagine Twitter has been looking for a reason to ban David Duke for a long, long time.

Also, I can’t say whether or not Sherratt’s tweet got him banned, only that the ban came after. Perhaps some of his followers dutifully went and reported the tweet for incitement. We don’t know, at this point.

Oh, and I should also include the usual disclaimer about not agreeing with Duke on a lot of things, I’m not a racist, blah, blah, blah. I think anyone with a brain who reads this site knows my political philosophy diverges from Duke’s. But even writing this up gives the haters ammo. Still, I will happily defend free speech at all times. Admmittedly, this meme was borderline, as I said. However, I don’t think it was a suspension-level offense.

UPDATE: Duke has been restored…

And his original meme tweet still stands, as of now…
