You may have seen the story from Breitbart yesterday where editor-at-large Ben Shapiro was threatened by a transgendered reporter who works for Inside Edition, Zoey Tur (formerly Robert Albert Tur). Now, one thing is true: Shapiro repeatedly called Tur “sir” during their segment together and was pretty dismissive of what Tur was saying. But still. I don’t think that excuses the response we saw:

Shapiro asked if the discussion was supposed to be on genetics and asked, “What are your genetics, sir?” Pinsky said to Tur, “I’d stay away from the genetics and back to the brain scans.”

Tur then said to Shapiro, “You cut that out now, or you’ll go home in an ambulance.” Shapiro responded, “That seems mildly inappropriate for a political discussion.” Oduolowu said that, to be fair, Shapiro was being rude, to which Shapiro answered, “I’m sorry, it’s not rude to say that someone who’s biologically a male is a male.” Tur stated, “You just called me a ‘sir.’”

After some of the other panelists, particularly radio and “Chain Reaction” host Mike Catherwood, objected that Shapiro knew that what he said would be “insulting” and “inflammatory.” Shapiro responded, “It’s not a matter of insulting or inflammatory. It’s a fact. You are a male. Dr. Drew is a male.”

Tur also talked about performing a “curb stomp” Shapiro on Twitter, agreeing with a user who said he would enjoy paying to see event take place. I can understand being mad and going off. It happens. But you can’t threaten. If I had done that on Twitter, my ass would be gone immediately. If I’d done it in person, I would have been arrested on the spot.

I guess holding the right SJW-cred will get folks to look the other way.

Personally, I’m not belligerent about calling transgendered women male. I kinda just see it as a waste of time, plus I happen to know some cool trans people that I like. Some trans troll on Twitter tried to trash me one day and I made a joke about it, but that’s about it. I say let people do what they want. The problem is, the thing some people want is to infringe on what you’re doing. Threatening to “meet someone in the parking lot” and talking about sending them home in an ambulance? Those aren’t acceptable responses when you’re pissed off about someone using an unfavored pronoun.

Some “progressives” definitely wanted to see Shapiro get his ass kicked, disagreeing with the analysis by Crooks & Liars that it was wrong to threaten people like Tur did:1 2

Gotta love that tolerance! I guess we’ll see what happens, since Shapiro did file a police report. I’m guessing if the roles had been reversed he’d already be in jail. Still, the police have a chance to treat this seriously. I don’t know about jail time, but some type of reprimand would be appropriate, in my opinion.

UPDATE: From Twitter…The reason I left it out is because I didn’t know about it lol…
