woah I’m a little surprised but unsure how to feel, while I think Milo was one of many – he was the start at least of people waking up and becoming aware of the huge issues with media ect.

But at the same time the issues with the grant and a growing ego sort of lead to this point. But will be interesting to see his statement on this and what he plans to do next. I’m sure he’s not going away quietly

  • Renaissance_nerd

Milo martyrs himself to show how one should act when caught in a scandal. He did the tough but honorable thing.Well done sir but sad to see you go…

    • Willie Christianson

      Yeah, a big bummer indeed.

    • Maintenance Renegade

Unfortunately throwing himself on the grenade was probably really the only way to protect Bannon and to protect Trump. It’s still sub-optimal as fuck because it’s just going to further embolden the bad guys. A counter offensive is needed though, some neo-con, Clintonian and media heads need to be piked in retaliation so that we don’t appear weak. Everyone keep your eyes peeled for good vengeance opportunities. Never forget who the enemy is, never forget the best defense is as always a nuclear counter-offensive.

  • Herbert☆VonDoom

I’m Not a fan of Milo, but this is going to be seen as another scalp for the NeoLibCons.

  • popehentai

All im left with is anger, and questions. How do we fix this? How did we let it get this bad? How did things get to a point where a joke can ruin your life? Where people refuse to fix sensationalized lies? Where the “news” can splice and edit someones speech to say anything they want it to and nobody does a goddamned thing to call it out because its someone they don’t agree with? How do we fucking fix that?!

    • ExiledV2

The only way to do so is to make everything completely anonymous again, unable to be tied to your real life. That ship sailed at the close of the 1990s.

  • JasonC5

Now the left will champion the real pedophiles on their side and possibly add another letter to the damn lgbtq thing.

The media is dangerous and went far beyond the 1st amendment in their handling of anti-sjws, gamergate, the election, Trump, and PewdiePie. With Milo, they really took things a bit out of context and spun another narrative.

  • n8vb8

Not even all the North Koreans in Malaysia could have pulled off a smoother assassination. RWDS when?

  • Jak Constantine

Trump needs to make news laws on the main stream media or people will start taking laws into their own hands. This is getting out of control and I’m mixed about breitbart now. A shit storm brewing.

    • ExiledV2

New laws on the mainstream media? Got any idea how you’re going to get around the 1st Amendment lawyers and existing caselaw on the press?

      • Renaissance_nerd

the 1st amendment only protects the press if what they publish is true. The problem is media hasn’t been sued for slander in so long they think they can get away with anything.

        • ExiledV2

Libel and slander cases are more difficult to prove than people think. Check what Simple Justice, The Volokh Report, and Popehat has to say on that. Whatever one thinks of them, they’re the free speech lawyers.

  • ExiledV2

And the Night of the Long Knives begins. Sorry, Milo Ernst, but True Conservatism was only going to use and drop you. The Pences of the world have no use for liberals OR libertarians.

  • Iso

Fair enough, he went down with honour and grace. Who among the journalists we have today would amount to the same thing? They’d cling onto their jobs til nothing was left. I may have disagreed with how Milo did things from time to time but least he stood up and was more of a man about it then anything.

    • Willie Christianson

Amen, although we still got Tucker Carlson, Steven Crowder, and Sargon of Akkad.

  • Mr0303

Milo did the noble thing to save the reputation of Breitbart by completely disassociating himself from them. Yet I’m kind of pissed that nobody stood up for him – this is not how you combat fake news.

Where were his colleagues that know he exposed actual paedophiles? Where were the YouTubers that knew him and had him as a guest, who must have known the context of his statements?

God speed, Milo. You’ll have my support. Despite all that I hope that his book is successful. He did so much for GamerGate, Trump and free speech in general that he deserved my respect.

    • Tigger

Vox Day talks about this exact scenario. While people will empathize with people that are victims of SJW attacks, they will not step forward and help. When this happens there is very little that can be done to save you. Most of all never ever apologize to these cretins. They are not out to find reconciliation, they are out to destroy people who say things they disagree with so an apology does absolutely no good. This authoritarian though policing needs to stop. People need to stand up and say that they have had enough.

  • Typical

Here’s the thing. People are going to be pissed off at BB if they fired him, BB loses readers, they lose their page counts = liberal win.

Right now they’re astroturfing the page with troll comments from new created accounts trying to sow discord, BB loses credibility because stupid people believe their horse shit = libs win.

This was the least lost course of action, and Milo took a bullet for the team. Never stop fighting.

  • StephaneDumas

One guy on Natural News talk about double-standards between Milo and Lena Dunhan and more about this.

    • Toastrider

Yep. That’s the part that makes me angry as hell. Was Milo stupid? Yes. He should’ve known the left was gunning for him, and they were going to dig up something. And he paid for it.

When will Richard Dawkins pay? Takei? Durham? Nyberg? When will ANY of them be cast out or leave of their own will?

And here’s the part that should rattle everyone’s cage. Who will be the next to be burned? Ace of Spades was ruminating on that in this column: http://ace.mu.nu/archives/368486.php

Ace is also putting forth some thought that it wasn’t JUST leftards targeting Milo — Egg McMuffin, er, Evan McMullin was tangled up in it as well.

  • milk bone

I would take anything on /pol/ with several large grains of salt – there’s always someone claiming to be privy to arcane knowledge – but this suggests a coordinated operation, planned well in advance:

Neocons showed their true colors in the run-up to the Trump election, so it wouldn’t surprise me if a coalition had been formed between the Left and the NeverTrump elements on the Right. These people lost big in recent months, and they are not going quietly. Trump, and his supporters like Milo, are going to be the coalition’s (figurative) cross-hairs until they are out of power.

  • Danlantic

The very British, very classy principled resignation.

I am nowhere near to being in Milo’s league.

  • Toastrider

An autopsy, of sorts, by this guy (not archived because I think he deserves the hits; he seems to have his head bolted on straight): http://thedeclination.com/the-media-strikes-back-milo-lies-and-videotape/

    • milk bone

Thanks for posting that; it’s a good analysis, and a good site in general. I remember the author from #GamerGate days …
