Joe Bernstein

You know, I’ve made some grievous errors in my day. For the most part, I can blame them on altered states due to imbibing or intense anger. I can’t figure out what BuzzFeed writer Joe Bernstein’s excuse is, though. I’m starting to think he’s just really, really stupid. Or maybe he has some brain degenerative issue that I’m unaware of. Either way, he keeps making mistake after mistake.

He memorably got rekt by Sam Hyde last summer, but before that, he ran an article on Milo Yiannopoulos that claimed to expose his usage of interns to write some of his material. The problem for Bernstein was that he ran the post on March 31st, 2016. This was a bad idea, to say the least. It made it look like the whole thing was some elaborate troll cooked up by Milo in order to troll Bernstein, and by extension, BuzzFeed itself. Whether you believe the story or not, publishing it on March 31st was a huge strategic blunder.

As you’ll see in the next part of this post, it’s one that Joe pretty much repeated again yesterday.

In case you’re unaware, there’s some controversy surrounding Baked Alaska and his former compatriot from MAGA3X, Citizens For Trump Director Jack Posobiec. I have no issues with any of these people. Let’s get that out of the way off top. I’m also not taking a position on the truth of the allegations that I’m about to recount. But, I think it’s fair to sum up the whole thing thusly.

This whole fight is over the Deploraball fallout.

Yes, that’s still going on. And thankfully, we have media mastermind Joe Bernstein to break it down for us (NOTE: These are allegations and Posobiec is denying them)…

Less than a week after the 2016 presidential election, a Trump supporter named Alan Beck tweeted two photographs of an anti-Trump protest in Washington, DC, in which a hooded figure held aloft a sign reading “Rape Melania.” The images went viral, and the sign — as well as Twitter — drew swift condemnation from news outlets both right and left.

Some Trump supporters took the sign as confirmation that the passionate national opposition to the president-elect was ultimately anarchic and violent. (Many of these supporters had drawn a similar conclusion about the Black Lives Matter movement.) “The current surge in the left’s propensity toward violence and mayhem should surprise no one,” wrote one InfoWars commenter. And to some Clinton supporters, the sign was a gutting refutation of Michelle Obama’s “when they go low, we go high” speech and a reminder that Trump rallies didn’t hold a monopoly on menace.

But, BuzzFeed News has learned, the “Rape Melania” sign was not the work of an anti-Trump protester at all. Instead, according to sources, it was the brainchild of a group of Trump supporters led by Jack Posobiec, one of the organizers of the controversial DeploraBall inauguration party and a prominent figure in the pro-Trump internet.

There’s a bunch of alleged screenshots and stuff in there as well, but you can click the archive above if you really want to see those. My focus is on Joe Bernstein. Again, Joe works for BuzzFeed. He ran his hit piece yesterday and it’s main thrust is “exposing” some Donald Trump supporters.

Can you think of anything else that’s come up concerning Trump and BuzzFeed as of late? A certain dossier, perhaps?

Oh yea! That’s right! Now I remember. Again, we don’t know if 4chan actually did troll BuzzFeed on certain aspects of the leaked documents. I can’t say that they did. But what person in their right mind, if they worked for BuzzFeed, would decide to run an exposé of the sort that Bernstein just published the very day after their company was made the laughingstock of the online world? And the people who aren’t laughing are outright hating. I can’t even properly count all the journalists who I have seen denounce BuzzFeed over the last 36 hours or so. Many of those people hate Trump, but they’re pissed off at BuzzFail even more because, in their estimation, a great disservice was done to journalism by the publication of that ridiculous “dossier.”

It’s pretty hard to argue with that conclusion.

It’s also pretty hard to argue with another conclusion: Joe Bernstein is a fucking idiot who will almost certainly never work for The New York Times.

UPDATE: Another reminder for Joe Bernstein…
