I can’t imagine being raped. Thankfully, I’ve went through my entire life so far avoiding such a tragedy. Still, I can’t imagine feeling much sympathy for my attacker if by some chance I did get violated. Then again, I’m not a leftist politician from Norway.

From The Daily Caller

Leftist Norway politican Karsten Nordal Hauken was brutally sodomized by a Somali and felt so incredibly guilty in the aftermath he subsequently begged authorities not to deport the man.

Hauken has finally come out to tell the public his story of his rape and forgiveness, Norway’s public broadcasting channel NRK reports…

The story doesn’t end there. Shortly before the sentence was over, Hauken learned the man was about to be deported from Norway and sent back to Somalia.

“I got a strong feeling of guilt and responsibility,” Hauken wrote. “I was the reason he wouldn’t be in Norway, and instead be sent to an unknown future in Somalia. He had already done his time in prison. Would he get punished again, and this time much harder?”…

“In his culture, sexual abuse is about power, not lust,” Hauken said. “And it’s not considered a gay action to be the one who engages in power and violence.”

“I don’t feel anger against my rapist, because I look at him as a product of an unjust world. A product of an upbringing full of war,” Hauken said.

What this all means, according to Hauken, is that refugees need our help more than ever.

I realize some people are making fun of this guy. While that’s a somewhat understandable response, I’m going to refrain from partaking in it myself. To be honest with you, I can’t feel anything except pity for this poor sap. Think about going through life and being so broken that you actually begin to feel sorry for the refugee that was responsible for your brutal sexual assault.

How does one get to that point?

It’s not just sympathy, by the way. Even though I am probably more vengeful than most, I could at least comprehend someone being able to move on and stop feeling anger towards the person who harmed them. It goes beyond that for Mr. Hauken, though. He’s so far gone that he thinks the rapist should perhaps be allowed to stay in Norway. Yes, the criminal did go to prison, but he was only sentenced to 4-and-a-half years. That’s incredibly light for such a brutal crime. Perhaps it was because the judge knew he would be deported? I’m not sure. Either way, I don’t feel like this was enough punishment.

10 years should be the absolute minimum for such a crime and if you aren’t a citizen of the country you purpotrated criminality, of course you should be deported. I don’t know if Hauken is trying to use this for political rhetoric or what, but regardless, this it’s sad to see a man debase himself like this. No, I won’t be laughing. The West is in sad shape if this is how far we’ve sunk. Have some pride in yourself and in your nation. Good grief.
