This year the Republican Convention has been more exciting than it ever has been during this authors lifetime. The only problem is, a lot of that was negative. There’s a silver lining, though. Donald Trump acceptance night on Thursday will be what everyone remembers. Oh, and they’ll also remember his daughter.

Ivanka Trump absolutely killed it and you could tell she was ready for this kind of spotlight. In fact, she’s better than most political candidates, including in some ways her own father. Even though her speech was much shorter than his, it was still quite strong. I don’t think Trump could have asked for a better introduction. Long story short, the future of Trump’s businesses is likely in good hands if Ivanka is at the helm.

I loved Donald Trump’s speech, but I do have to note that it was a shade longer than many modern efforts. I called it “old school Bill Clinton length,” although I don’t know if it was quite that far. It was 70 minutes plus, I believe. I think what they were trying to do was show Trump was capable of giving a long speech about the nation and its problem in a serious manner. He accomplished that.

Was he as polished as some politicians? Not at all, in fact that was about the only downside I can see, along with the possible length issue for those with low attention spans. When you look at it though, he hit everything he wanted to hit plus Trump had an air of confidence. In short, you could imagine him being president. He did very well tonight, in my estimation.

Overall, I think it was a great night. Trump delivered, but I’m interested to see how it plays with the nation. It was the most liberal speech from a Republican nominee in my lifetime, so I think that should be noted as well.

Here’s the tweets!

UPDATE: Seems like I’m not the only one who thought he did well…
