I would say good morning, but it is now the afternoon here on the Eastern Coast of the United States of America. Anyway, long story short, I’m here to talk about Wikipedia. Jimbo Wales and his co-creation have both been a favorite target of mine in the past, but they get worse every time I look at ’em. I have stopped archiving the site, just because it’s a waste of time. But that doesn’t mean I think any more highly of it.

Like I said, they’re actually getting worse. This is evidenced by the fact that they’ve now slated “social justice warrior” (SJW) for possible deletion (they’ve already deleted Cultural Marxism). I have no idea why. Maybe it’s because it triggered too many special snowflakes…

I don’t see a legitimate reason to get rid of this entry. Even if you don’t like the “social justice warrior” terminology, you have to admit that it has entered the modern lexicon. Deleting it off Wikipedia isn’t going to change that. Thankfully, the “keep” side of the voting seems to be winning at this point, but Wikipedia is so hard to dive into that I honestly couldn’t tell you where it’s headed. I do know that erasing this entry isn’t going to diminish its usage.

Still, those who control the language control the debate. This is just the latest example. Some people consider Wikipedia an authoritative source, so deleting the entry could have an impact on the simple-minded. As I said above, I don’t think it would affect usage that much, but this whole episode still goes to show how the other side thinks. This isn’t the first time they’ve tried to eighty-six the record of something in order to advance their agenda, and they’ll keep doing as we move forward. Guaranteed.
