What is DOAX3? Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 is the 3rd in a series of side games by Koei-Tecmo which exist in the Dead or Alive universe; which itself is a spin off from the Ninja Gaiden universe. (Yes folks this game is really that meta.) If you enjoy relaxing mini games, intense volleyball matches, playing dress up, taking pictures, and gift grinding then this game is meant for you. If you enjoy seeing the female body in all of it’s glorious, boob jiggling, butt bouncing, tanning, water dripping, polygon form, as well as being able to sticking a camera wherever you like, this game is also for you. (Different strokes different folks, no judgments here.)

In the Xtreme series various girls from DOA are invited to Zack Island for a wonderful vacation. From the opening scene Zack (one of the fighters in the Dead or Alive tournament) explains to you he has rebuilt the island after the events of Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 and that you the player are now in charge. Each vacation you select one of nine women & are given her introduction before your vacation begins. Once your vacation begins DOX3 is very much a, ‘choose your own adventure game.’ With Beach Volleyball, Flag Racing, Rock climbing, Butt battling, Tug-a-war, & Pool hopping. Along with a Casino for Poker, Black Jack, & Roulette. You can also have your picture taken, go shopping, & give presents to your friends. As an owner you are in the hospitality business so you make sure the patrons are happy. This can be achieved through completing various missions, watching activities, & gift giving.

DOX3 is designed for multiple playthroughs be it with whomever you like or repeatedly with your personal favorite. Every girl has her own personal taste & motivation. She comes with a unique set of swimsuits that only she can buy for herself or to gift to her friends. The variety of swimsuits is massive as is the level of detail. Each suit was custom designed to fit her body. She also has gifts she loves receiving & ones she’s hates, and she isn’t shy about letting you know what she doesn’t like! Overall I was very impressed with all the new suits, I especially liked the various cat-girls outfits. With suits ranging from a traditional one piece to more risky suits you would see at the beaches of Brazil, DOAX3 offers enough variety for all different taste.

Through the course of the vacation your affection with your partner will rise so she will be more receptive to accepting your gifts. (This is more an Eastern concept. Westerns will take almost anything as long as you use the word free.) At the end of the vacation if you have done a good job in making her happy you will unlock an ending scene. (This is achieved by obtaining an S+ Rank 100% satisfaction.)

DEAD OR ALIVE Xtreme 3 Fortune
DEAD OR ALIVE Xtreme 3 Fortune

The over-all graphic detail of the game is highly centered on the playable female characters. With an updated engine from Dead or Alive 5, DOAX3 offers even more, with a renewed focus on butt physics. You will get to see all the girls adorable ‘strategic butt coverings’ on an ass that jiggles the way it does in real life. The girls also tan & develop tan lines at an intensity never seen before in games. However, with so much detail focused on the girls I do feel the background environment is lacking in current year. The world may have scale but the pixelation & clipping of certain effects is disappointing. This is further carried over to the girl’s hair, which has the magic ability to go through seemingly everything they encounter. The world is also missing life. I realize the girls are the center of attention but more animals on a tropical island would have been a nice touch.

The music is almost nonexistent. A very small track list that is forgettable. Which is good because you hear the same tracks over & over again. I found myself turning the music off & playing Pandora. Gone are the days of the Original X-Box where you could have custom in-game soundtracks. While the reason for this is centered around copyright law, it doesn’t change the fact Koei-Tecmo cut cost by not paying for a proper score.

Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 also offers two End Game Features: Event Paradise & Pictorial Paradise. Event Paradise allows you to view the in game cut scene’s you have unlocked anytime you want with any swimsuit you’ve acquired. Pictorial Paradise which allows to watch all of the “relax” scenes in the game. I personally love the end game features & it made reaching the higher owner ranks totally worth it.

A new addition to the Xtreme series is of course micro transactions. These awful things are in all of our games these days & this is no exception. However, the good news is they are only for people who want to spend money rather than play the game. You earn all the in game currency you need to acquire every item with the micro transactions, just cutting out the time it takes to earn them completely. (i.e. You pay to avoid grinding.) Having played the first two though I can say the difficulty in acquiring the in-game currency is actually better in this game than the previous two. DOAX’s in-game currency has been capped much lower than the previous versions to discourage cheating, not encourage micro transactions as some reviewers have suggested.

That’s what Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 is, but is it any good? The short answer is yes. DOAX3 is unique gaming experience to the PS4 / Vita. It has provided me with dozens of hours of gameplay. (Over 60hrs at the moment.) I will be taking many more trips back to Zack Island to unlock new swimsuits, gift the ones I like to various girls & unlock all the hidden cut scenes.

I’m going to rate this game a B+ or (8.7 out of 10)

To me this rating means: High replay value, a quality product, & it delivers on what it’s selling.

Given all the controversy surrounding this game, who is DOAX3 not meant for? People who hate or are just uncomfortable with the female body, &/or people who just don’t want to spend top dollar on what could be summed up as merely a collection of mini games. There is one “Fan Service” event put in the game that requires a lot of work to unlock & that is the infamous, “pole dancing scene.” (It’s just dancing, no nudity and again it’s completely optional.) Pole dancing scene aside, I would say the target demographic for this game is actually teenage girls & young women. If you like Savvy Style Trendsetters you will probably really enjoy this game. And if you are fan of DOA & perhaps you liked the first two DOAX games you will most likely love this one as well.

*Editorial Note*

It’s a shame that this game wasn’t released in the Western market. Thankfully Play-Asia.com was able to provide me with a review copy as well as setting a site record for most pre-ordered game. Considering the previous title, Dead or Alive Xtreme 2, sold twice as much in the USA than Japan, Koei-Tecmo undoubtedly missed a very lucrative opportunity.

Along with many disappointed fans of the franchise, another negative side effect of the game not having an English Dubbed Western release resulted in the roles of the 9 playable female characters being unavailable to voice actresses. And I personally would have loved to see Dennis Rodman reprise his role as Zack! The decision to not localize Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 is one that will discussed in gaming circles for years.

I hope you enjoyed this review you can find me @HiddenTara on Twitter. I recently started my own Twitch you can follow it here: https://www.twitch.tv/magicaltabletopgirls

For further analysis I will be comparing Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 to DOAX & DOAX2. If you want to know how it compares to its forbearers as well as in-depth game play mechanics then click here for my extended review:

  1. I honestly have yet to get into the DOA series, but I was tempted to get this just to stick it to the SJWs. Well, Play-Asia seems to have already sold more than well enough that I probably don’t need to, but still, I like what I see. Small collection of mini-games be damned, that is some damn quality fanservice there. I’m also happy to hear that the insane amounts of microtransactions are only a quick shortcut and not necessary for people who want to get everything in a game (I’m a bit of a completionist, so microtransactions where you have to fork out real cash for more than half of an in-game inventory really piss me off; pre-order or early-access exclusives are even worse). Though, I’m wondering if I should get this before ever playing an actual DOA fighting game (like the most recent DOA5, perhaps).

    1. Sjws don’t care about DOA that’s the big irony of this if you want to get a Doax game get doax2. DOAX3 is so bad you would think EA made it. They have fewer girls, fewer mini games, no multiplayer and fewer bikinis.

      1. Never had a Microsoft console. And unless I have a shitton of money to burn (like say I just won the lottery), I don’t have any intentions on getting one either.

        1. you are right i popped DOAX2 in for some reaosn i thought it had 12. Regardless the new girls suck and it still has less content.

    2. I got it on principle. I think the fighting games may have some more content gameplay wise, but it is a solid title. PlayAsia may be low on stock right now, so if you are unsure, you could wait for a sale.

      1. I got it on principle even though I don’t have a PS4 yet haha. Probably gonna buy one next month though.

  2. “Sold twice as much in the US then Japan ”

Did Anita write this? That is incredibly misleading. It also sold less then half as much as Doax 1. And the last one Doa Paradise sold less then the Japan version.

America is less then 10% of tecmos income and they stated several times over the past 3 years that there is no market for Doax in the West it doesnt sell well.

Plus IT IS ON SALE IN THR WEST. THEY SOLD MORE COPIES THEN THEY WOULD HAVE IF THEY DID A LOCALIZED COPY

    1. Xtreme 1 and 2 both sold better in the West by a large amount. Paradise is the only outlier, but it had no marketing in the West (meanwhile Xtreme 1 and 2 did, and Paradise was marketed heavily in Japan) and it still nearly sold as well in the West as it did in Japan.

      1. Again… selling more doesn’t mean more money. Look at it this way America is only 10% of Tecmo’s revenue and that is with DOA 5 Last Round and all the DLC.

DOA 5 Last Round on Xbox outsold Japan YET due to shpping costs, marketing, as well as transfering money they made a LOT more in Japan then in America.

The key is it sold half as much as the first one. When a sequel sells worse then the first one you stop making sequels.

        1. “The key is it sold half as much as the first one. When a sequel sells worse then the first one you stop making sequels.”

Apparently not, if they made two more after Xtreme 2.

          1. well no they ported Xtreme 2 to a systam that Japanese people have, and then figured ehh lets send it over seas surely it will make as much as DOAX2

            It didn’t

Also they said this back in 2013

““I’ve been hearing that there isn’t much of a demand for the DOAX series at the moment. But if the fans have a strong desire to see it, we’d love to hear those thoughts directed to our official Twitter account @TeamNINJAStudio.” ”

The fans in Japan DID tweet them however US fans did not.

    2. Wow you site the last 3 years when the DOX2 was released 10 years ago. Meanwhile I site a source proving my statement. Your argument and line of reasoning is nearly incoherent.

Here I’ll make your argument for you: Given the higher until sales of the Xbox 360 it shouldn’t come as a surprise that DOAX2 sold more in the USA than Japan. This can be reflected with DOAX Paradise as the PSP had much higher unit sales in Japan. With the USA currently only making up 10% of Tecmos over all income it is unlikely DOAX3 would have had the same level of performance as DOAX2.

^ That is how you formulate a valid and cohesive argument.

My rebuttal: The English Subtitled version of the game still could have been sold on the PlayStation Store with no loss to the company.

      1. Hi Tara. Respectable review! I’ve just got the game myself and will be doing my own review for a site I write for, but good to read a more positive point of view for a change. Have to say I’m very disappointed with the removal of some of the games and not having all the girls from DOA – was expecting more all around from the third in the series – but having fun with it.

Just want to say be very careful when using VGChartz as a source. The site is well-known for being an unreliable source, and is banned on some sites because of this reason. It often uses guesswork to provide its figures, and has a reputation for being innaccurate. It’s very possible the figures the site has for DOAX2 are legit and accurate; however, it’s often a much better idea to find these figures with real quotes or officially released sales data to provide the facts. Thought I’d pass this message on in a friendly manner!

          1. No probs. Don’t mean to throw doubt on your data, but saves you getting a load of harsh words from some angry person if you think of using it again in the future 😉

  3. Wait what an 8.7???? This is the worst of the entire series. It has less content, less girls less mini games then any other Doax game. They removed the best parts of 2 at best this is a 4 out of 10.

Giving bad games high scores is why the industry keep pumping out dlc cash grabs like this

    1. Xtreme 2 was a bloated mess full of glitches, performance issues, and horrible graphics (which is kind of a big deal in a game that places an emphasis on ogling character models). Xtreme 3 is a much better game than 2 and Paradise, and arguably better than the original XBV. The missing characters is a shame but to be expected from a game made on such a shoestring budget (Tecmo Koei wasn’t going to fund the game at all untill a dedicated group of fans kept asking for it). I’d much rather have a smaller game that plays well than a larger one that looks and plays poorly.

      1. It’s got the same amount of characters, problem is the rooster grew so they ran a fan poll and the top favorites made it in, the rest didn’t.

Maybe they’ll be back as DLC, who knows, they officially have no plans for it but that is developer code for “Nothing to announce yet”.

        1. Exactly. If the game was some evil scheme to sell DLC characters, they wouldn’t have included the most popular ones (aka the ones who would sell the most). Especially since they could have easily gotten away with including the less popular classic characters in lieu of the more popular new ones.

      2. oh god no, DOAX3 is no way better then 2. For god sakes they reused the ground textures from 2 and they removed the best features and mini games.

If you want a smaller game that plays well then play DOAX1 which is still clearly the best. Regardless there is no way this is an 8.7 game. Shit man ave you seen the japanese reviews? They are overwhelmingly negative.

    2. Dude, calm your tits & wait for the follow up when I compare DOAX3 to the first 2. This review clearly wasn’t meant for you. I first looked at this game on this platform, in the CONTEXT of what it was selling. Yes things were removed, things were added, I will talk about all that in part 2. People who have never played a 10 year old game wouldn’t benefit from that analysis which is why it’s coming later. Also, you don’t need to go off on everyone who doesn’t agree with you in the comments section, that gains you nothing.

  4. I mostly agree with the review.

The game is really similar to DOA Paradise. Quite a few of the minigames are the same and the girls and the new Soft Engine are definitely the focus.

It is a bit grindy, but I find it acceptable in shorter play sessions. Another great feature is the cross save between PS4 and Vita.

The last paragraph is spot on. This game is harmless. There is nothing problematic in it. Tecmo Koei should’ve localised in anyway given how progressive outlets are still crapping on the game.

    1. if they localized it they would have lost money. That is the reason they didn’t localize it, it has nothing to do with SJWs. SJWs don’t care about DOA

      1. They are losing money right now because they can’t sell the DLC to people who imported it. Plus given that the past Xtreme titles sold more in the West that is an unlikely excuse.

SJWs don’t care specifically about any game. They just don’t want to see themes they don’t like. This is why they slander and attack games.

        1. well… I can’t say i’ll ever feel bad for a company losing money on DLC for stuff that should have been included such as bikinis.

However you can import that DLC cards so to speak and get the bikinis that way.

No DOA Paradise did not sell more in the west but all this is pointless as even last year DOA 5 Last Round sold more in the west then in Japan yet the US was only 10% of Tecmo’s total income.

With production, localization, trade taxes, marketing, converting the income back to Yen and of course shipping copies to every game store in the US the profit per unit is MUCH lower then selling in Asia.

So much so that even though DOAX2 sold more in AMerica they made more of the Asian sales.

          1. You can’t import DLC cards, since your PSN account is tied to the store in that region. The codes that you can possibly buy won’t be valid.

DOA Paradise is the exception rather than the rule, but if you read my post it says Xtreme titles, which still holds true.

I’m going to need a citation on the earnings of the company that you mention in the last two paragraphs. As it stands now they’ve lost potential sales in the West, because they didn’t bring the game here in any form.

          2. that’s why you get a Hong Kong PSN account. It is more then possible. No its not the exception it is the 3rd in a trend. Each DOAX game sells fewer and fewer.

No they didn’t lose any sales in fact they gained more by this whole contrversy as it got more attention to the game. hell it has been better marketing then if they had did a whole promotion and its completely free.

You have had a ton of people buying it just to “stick it to SJW”, people who would never have bought in the first place.

All the people that would have bought it are going to buy it regardless especially since shipping is only $4.99

As for the sales data i’m trying to remember where I found that image. I’ll do some digging to see if its still saved on my home computer history

          3. I don’t intend to create a separate Hong Kong account just to buy DLC and I doubt that most people will. I thought you were against DLC in general?

All Xtreme titles sold more in the West, no matter how you spin it.

As we already established they lose any potential DLC sales, which let’s be frank are very significant for DOA games. Similar fan service games were localised like Senran Kagura Estival Versus and sold more than a retailer like PlayAsia could ever hope to sell (upwards of 100K).

I will call bullshit on the 4.99$ shipping. Most people wouldn’t risk purchasing a 60$ game and going for the cheaper postal option, especially given that it is coming from Asia. Another thing to consider is that some countries have import tax – in the UK it was 70$+.

If the game was localised the SJWs would’ve shat more on it and would’ve amplified the Streisand effect, which in turn would lead to more sales from the people who do want to stick it to them. It would also be easier for the consumers to do so, since they don’t have to import it and pay and wait more just to play it.

          4. Oh I am i’m just saying its still possible. I think DLC is a bigger threat to video games then SJW

Nice choice of words since DOA Paradise isn’t labbled Xtreme. Now who is trying to spin

Again no they don’t lose any sales as its still possible to buy the DLC and there are alreaedy people who have done it.

Actuallly 4.99 is the high end. I got my copy off of Amazon with free 2 day shipping and no extra costs.

Amazon in the US has no import tax.

No the SJW don’t care about the game that’s the whole point. They don’t care about it now. Can you find me 1 single tweet or article that talks about getting DOAX3 banned prior to November 25th 2015?

          5. I’m not spinning anything. Just pointing out that all the Xtreme games have sold more in the West, you know – facts.

Most people in the West would have Western accounts to play the game, which limits potential sales. Not only that, but people with Asia accounts would have to purchase top up codes, which further complicates the whole process. The people able to buy the DLC would a small percentage of those who bought the game. If they localised it, not only would they get more sales, but everyone would be able to purchase the DLC.

“Amazon in the US has no import tax.” – and US is not the world. There are other countries, believe it or not.

Have a look at Destructoid’s review of DOAX3 (https://archive.is/qrX8S#selection-521.4-521.14). It is pure slander of the game. It is dated 03.25.2016. Also why in the hell would there be articles about banning a game that is not present in the market whatsoever? For SJWs to protest it more, it has to be available.

          6. but that’s not true. DOA Paradise the last game in the series sold better in japan then it did America or are you going to deny that?

The people who want the DLC will get the DLC regardless of the hoops they have to jump through.

We are talking about the US not the World.

I’ve read that article i don’t see how its pure slander. The author loves the series and is upset about the removel of content, and the low res textures used. In fact he said the game should have been localized.

But what about the article is slander?

The narative is they didn’t release the game in the West because of SJW. Yet no where since the game was announced were SJW talking about the game. In fact NO ONE talked about the game till after Play Asia said it was because of SJW.

Which if that were true why did they release DOA 5 Last Round in 2015? If they were worried about backlash they would have kept DOA5 Last Round as a Japan excluslive as well.

          7. Paradise is the outlier. In fact it is just a port of DOAX2. As a whole the DOAX series has sold more in the West than in Japan, or are you going to deny that?

“We are talking about the US not the World.” – why? Anyone can import the game. In fact in Europe the PlayStation brand is stronger than in the US.

I showed you an SJW review slandering the game with stupid comments like the lack of “characters of colour” or that “one cast member that doesn’t look quite legal”. The game is not
broken and thus doesn’t deserve a score of 1.5.

Again – they don’t care about the game, because it was never released in
the West. There may be thousands of niche Japanese titles that trigger
SJWs, but they don’t complain about because they don’t know about them.
If Tecmo did release it there would’ve been multiple reviews like the
Destructoid one demolishing the game and nullifying any marketing
they’ve done. The PC culture is very real and we can see how it affects games every day – the Overwatch butt controversy, Xenoblade’s censorship and removal of features, Star Ocean 5’s panty removal, Bravely Default 2’s character alteration, Baldur’s Gate SJW expansion, SFV R. Mika buttslap removal and so on and so forth.

“Which if that were true why did they release DOA 5 Last Round in 2015?” – because DOA5 was released in 2012 and it only makes sense to release the upgrade. Because the SJW crazies weren’t as influential back then. Because DOA5 is a fighting game that s not purely about fanservice like the Xtreme series. Need any more reasons?

          8. no its not an outlier its part of the series. To ignore it is to do some Anita Sarkeessian style cherry picking.

“- why? Anyone can import the game. In fact in Europe the PlayStation brand is stronger than in the US.”

Because the US is the center of the controversy.

“I showed you an SJW review slandering the game with stupid comments like the lack of “characters of colour” ”
Yeah how is that slander they got rid of my favorite girl Lisa.

” “one cast member that doesn’t look quite legal”.”
and? you know Maria Rose is supposed to be 16 they upped her age recently to 18. Her character was desigend to be 16

That isn’t wrong nor is it slander.

Hey heads up never watch one of Totalbiscuts reviews. I don’t think you could handle the “slander”

            ” The game is not

broken and thus doesn’t deserve a score of 1.5.”

Show me where only broken games can have a score of 1.5. I would rate a broken game as 0.

I would say 1.5 is a bit low I would give it a 2.5 maybe a 3. but no way anything about a 4. The game is awful.

Fewer features then the last 2 versions, DLC, AND low res ground textures? No thank you.

If this was the first in the series maybe I would be more generous but since this is the 4th game in the series and its the worst of them, yeah a 1.5 isn’t far off.

Hell I would give Star Wars Battlefront a 1.0. The game works fine but its stripped of all content and has unesscary DLC.

“If Tecmo did release it there would’ve been multiple reviews like the ”

Doubt it since the Japanese players are giving it awful reviews as well. Japanese gamers are just as angry as I am with the lack of content and DLC.

            “the Overwatch butt controversy”

Ok gonna stop you right there. Here are the facts since you probably just read what Ralphs report on it? He tends to be greatly missinformed on games.

            1. The “over the shoulder pose” was a PLACEHOLDER POSE. Every character had it.
            2. One by one each “over the shoulder pose” was replaced by another pose that fit the character.
            3. Tracers pose had not been updated.
            4. That means IT WAS ALWAYS GOING TO BE REPLACED
            5. One guy one single guy on the Overwatch BETA FORUMS asked for a new pose that wasn’t the standard hollywood movie poster sex pose. He asked for a pose that fit her character.
            6. Blizzard agreed and released the new pose that FIT her character. How does it fit and STILL be sexy?

Simple notice her bomber jacket? She got a bomber girl pin up pose. Thus still sexy with out being explotitive and it fits her character.

The only controversy came from clickbait youtube videos trying to get people outraged at a controversy that didn’t exist.

“There may be thousands of niche Japanese titles that trigger

            SJWs,”

SJWs dont’ really do that they go after AAA big name titles like MGSV and Quiet. They don’t care about DOA. Hell if what you were saying was true they would have gone after Huniepop, Hunniecam, or any of Akhabar’s Paetron hardcore sex games.

Sadly Huniecam is disapointing but Akabars Aladin game is amazing.

And yet SJW’s don’t care about them.

“Destructoid one demolishing the game and nullifying any marketing

            they’ve done.

            “because DOA5 was released ”

No DOA5 Last Roudn was released in 2015 and sold more in the Us then Japan.”

“Because DOA5 is a fighting game that s not purely about fanservice like the Xtreme series. Need any more reasons?

Yeah… SJW would never go after a game where you beat woman up….. Please those aren’t even excuses. If you don’t think SJWs would go after a fighting game with breast physics but would go after a vollyball game then you are just crazy.

          9. I’m not ignoring it. In fact if we combine Europe and US – the West in other words, Paradise still sold more here. Since the series sold more here than in Japan this is the rule and not cherry picking.

Do I really need to point out the idiocy of the characters of colour comment given the Japanese girls in the game? Mary Rose is 18 – cannon, end of story. Both of those are not legitimate criticisms of the game.

I don’t care about your personal scoring system whatsoever. I showed you an SJW reviewer and how he scored the game.

The game director apologised to that idiot in the forums and said that they don’t want to make anyone feel uncomfortable. This example along with all the rest is still valid.

You do realise that there are SJWs working at gaming publications like Polygon and Kotaku, right? The same people who gave Bayonetta 2 a lower score because of the whole sexism nonsense. They have the power to make or break a smaller less popular niche title by giving it a bad review and bad press. Or others that work in gaming companies like Bioware and Nintendo and can butcher a game or release it with some SJW propaganda in them.

The last paragraph of your post was a jumbled mess ignoring all the reasons I’ve provided that distinguished the two games. Your comparison was stupid in the first place – comparing what is essentially an expansion pack to a whole new game.

          10. acutally no Rest of the world is Asia. The .02 you are atributing to the European/US should actually be included to the Japan side as its Asian contries such as China and South Korea.

That is the very definition of Cherry Picking.

Like I said he is refering to Lisa

” Mary Rose is 18 – cannon, end of story. Both of those are not legitimate criticisms of the game.”
No no no no no. It’s clear you aren’t a fan of DOA. I have owned every single DOA game. I own every Art book as well as several DOA manga’s.

Fuck man DOA is the reason I learned Japanese.

            Maria Rose isn’t 18.

Yes both of those are legitmate critisims of the game…. that is how critisim works.

and no those aren’t the reasons he gave it a 1.5 he gave it a 1.5 due it to being worst then the other DOAX games

“You do realise that there are SJWs working at gaming publications like Polygon and Kotaku, right?”

I wouldn’t know I don’t read Polygon or Kotaku, they are both shit game sites

“They have the power to make or break a smaller less popular niche title by giving it a bad review and bad press.”

No they don’t. It’s been proven gaming sites have absoultely no power over game sales.

Youtubers on the other hand have HUGE power on if a game sells or not. WHich is why studios pay LOTS of money to make sure the big youtubers say good things about their games.

Shit after Gamegrumps played DOAX2, almost every store sold out of the Used copies. There was a shortage of DOAX2

Same goes with Hunniepop after Markpiler and Gamegrumps played it, it reached the top of the Steam charts and it is a DAMN good game.

“comparing what is essentially an expansion pack to a whole new game”

Ok… no absoultely not, you clearly have never played a DOA game if you are calling DOA5 last round an expansion pack.

          11. I’m not taking the Rest of the world figures. NA+EU>JA. Learn to add.

Marie Rose’s character sheet in DOAX3 says 18. Fact. There is nothing to argue here.

If you think those are legitimate criticisms of the game you are beyond help.

Moving goalposts I see. The point is that there are SJWs in gaming sites that write their propaganda and if you want examples with YouTubers there are also those – Jim Sterling, Movie Bob, Greg Miller – take your pick.

The rest of your post consists of baseless boasting how big of a fan of DOA you are and how I can’t be if I don’t hold your delusional views. Rather pathetic.

          12. again that’s cherry picking. You are leaving out SK, China and the rest of Asia.

Yes there is something to argue as she was designed to be a 16 year old girl. So his origial statement about how one of the girls looks underage is 100% accurate and not slander.

            That’s what criticism means.

How have I shifted goal posts? You are the one bringing up Kotaku Polygon and now Jim Sterling and Moviebob. So what? Are you saying now you want to supress their speach?

No people will but the game regardless of what Kotaku Polygon say. AND the fact that people STILL reviewed the game despite it not haveing a localized US release proves this.

So you are actually going with companies shouldn’t release a game because of big scarey reviewers.

            Nice.

Like I said look at the Japanese reviews, they don’t have SJW’s over there and it STILL got shit reviews.

          13. I’m not leaving them out – the argument was always that those games sold more in the West than in Japan, including Paradise. It is not cherry picking if the rule applies for every single game in the series.

“Yes there is something to argue as she was designed to be a 16 year old girl.” – and in the final design she’s 18. That’s it. There is nothing wrong with Marie Rose being in a volleyball game – the comment about her age is just a shaming tactic.

I pointed out (with plenty of examples) that there is a prevailing PC culture – on social media, video game websites and YouTube. These people have influence and followings and as you pointed out they can drive or demolish sales, so Koei’s comment about SJWs is not without merit as you so hard tried to argue.

“Are you saying now you want to supress their speach?” – I never suggested that and learn to spell.

“So you are actually going with companies shouldn’t release a game because of big scarey reviewers.” – nope, learn to read – in my first post I said that they should’ve localised it anyway. You are the one that argues that they shouldn’t.

“Like I said look at the Japanese reviews, they don’t have SJW’s over there and it STILL got shit reviews.” – you mean like Famitsu’s 32/40 score? Sure. Why not.

          14. well no the arguement was always US vs Japan. If you are going by the West Vs the East since DOAX3 is still being sold in the East then guess what? You can’t cherry pick just Japan.

That is something Anita would do. So you have to look at the market they are selling the game to vs the market they are not localizing to.

Well in reallity they are STILL selling it in the West. But we can ignore that

So by East vs West it STILL sells better in the East

“and in the final design she’s 18.”

Wrong in the final design she is still 16. However they say she is 18. They kept the design from when she was going to be 16 and just “upped” her age

This is very typical in Japanaese games especailly when they port them overseas you see it all the time a character sudenly becomes 18 in the western release.

“I pointed out (with plenty of examples) that there is a prevailing PC culture”

Prevealling? really? Last I heard Kotaku and all of Gawker meadia is going under, Anita has been debunked and GG is still on top.

But sure you want to play the victim i guess.

“These people have influence and followings and as you pointed out they can drive or demolish sales”

Ok prove it. Prove that they have demolished a games sales. Should be easy right?

“- I never suggested that and learn to spell.”

Well you did suggest it, and sorry english isn’t my first language. I didn’t have the means to afford a 1st class english education such as yourself. I had to work my entire life.

“You are the one that argues that they shouldn’t”

Learn to read I never said that. However I understand why they didn’t and it has nothing to do with SJWs. It has everything to do with profits there is no reason to waste money on localization if the fans of the game will buy it regardless.

“you mean like Famitsu’s 32/40 score?”
Oh my god you found 1 postiive review! yeah no I mean like all the negative users reviews.

The game is awful and the worst in the series, you were grasping at straws on why they released DOA 5 Last Round.

          15. “You can’t cherry pick just Japan.” – yes, I can. My initial argument was the West vs Japan and it hasn’t really changed.

“Well in reallity they are STILL selling it in the West.” – citation needed.

“However they say she is 18.” – so she’s 18. Glad we cleared that one.

“Ok prove it. Prove that they have demolished a games sales. Should be easy right?” – sure. Negative press can affect sales. As you yourself said – “Same goes with Hunniepop after Markpiler and Gamegrumps played it, it reached the top of the Steam charts” if youtubers have the power to positively influence the game sales, they have the power to do the opposite. You were right – it was easy proving that.

“Well you did suggest it,” – I challenge you to point out where in my posts I’ve done so.

“and sorry english isn’t my first language. I
didn’t have the means to afford a 1st class english education such as
yourself. I had to work my entire life.” – Phahahah! Who’s playing the victim now? You know nothing about me and yet throughout this conversation you are trying to build a strawman to fight against.

“Learn to read I never said that.” – oh, but you did and I quote “if they localized it they would have lost money.” and “All the people that would have bought it are going to buy it regardless”, with no evidence or data backing any of that up.

“Oh my god you found 1 postiive review! yeah no I mean like all the negative users reviews.” – of which you provided exactly 0.

“The game is awful and the worst in the series, you were grasping at straws on why they released DOA 5 Last Round.”

Releasing the DOA5 Last Round’s expansion is completely separate from the decision to not localise DOAX3. If anything you are the one grasping at straws to support your mess of an argument.

          16. ok yes you can just do that if you want to be intelectually dishonest.

However in the context of the arguement on why they are only releasing the game in Asia and not the EU and US it makes no sense to just pick Japan. You need to look at the market as a whole

But again fuck it lets go with Japan vs the rest of the world Fine Japan is still more succesful as they had a higher profit per unit sold

Well in reallity they are STILL selling it in the West.” – citation needed.

Yup still selling it in the west.

“sure. Negative press can affect sales. As you yourself said ”

Wrong I asked for you to prove that Kotaku, Polygon, and Jim Sterling could demolish a games sales.

In fact didn’t polygon give Bayonetta 2 a low review? I didn’t see that destroy the sales

So i ask again show me proof these outlets destroy game sales.

            ” Who’s playing the victim now? ”
            just following your example

            http://www.amazon.co.jp/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2/375-2665152-4279549?__mk_ja_JP=%E3%82%AB%E3%82%BF%E3%82%AB%E3%83%8A&url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=doax3

            Yeah low reviews

“Releasing the DOA5 Last Round’s expansion is completely separate”

It’s not an expansion. In fact you callling it an expansion makes me question your video game credentials.

Its an entire game not an expansion. But even if it was an expansion that still wouldn’t matter, do you think SJW care if its an expansion? When has the truth ever stopped Anita Sarkesian?

But why didn’t the SJW protest Hunnipop? Hunniecam? Or any of Akabars games?

          17. There is nothing intellectually dishonest about the data I’m using (also the irony of you misspelling intellectually). I said that DOAX games including Paradise sold more in the West than in Japan, which is factually correct. Plus we don’t have any Asia numbers for the previous games, so my point stands.

“But again fuck it lets go with Japan vs the rest of the world Fine Japan
is still more succesful as they had a higher profit per unit sold” – citation needed. Also *successful.

That is not Koei Tecmo selling it in the West. Those are third parties who have imported the game and are reselling it at double the price with no extra profit for the creator.

“Wrong I asked for you to prove that Kotaku, Polygon, and Jim Sterling could demolish a games sales.” – you yourself said that YouTubers have influence over sales and it goes both ways. Believe it or not negative press and reviews does affect sales and people’s earnings. For example when Obsidian lost their bonuses due to lower than expected metacritic score.

“just following your example” – that’s apparently your only talent.

“Yeah low reviews” – so 3 star reviews are now low? The correct word is average or mediocre. Funny thing – the US/UK links you provided the reviews were 5 stars. So the game is getting good and average reviews.

” In fact you callling it an expansion makes me question your video game credentials.” – Oh, no! Your opinion means so much to me! Also *calling.

I know this may be hard to understand, but DOA5 is a fighting game. DOAX3 is a game mainly focused on fan service.

“But why didn’t the SJW protest Hunnipop? Hunniecam? Or any of Akabars games?” – because they are niche titles with no mainstream influence. Plus it is a matter of chance what SJWs find and protest. For example Hatred – the media shat on it and it went as far as it being removed from Steam Greenlight.

  5. It’s mostly a character focused game, you get to see the characters in a more relaxed environment.
There’s stuff to grind and collect, a full set of swimsuit for each girl, plus you can go through the efforts of transfering every swimsuit to the other girls (swimsuits are girl specific at the store but girls can befriend and later give them to other girls).
And later you can enjoy playing dressup with the girls.
There are missions to complete along the way, simple stuff that’s now tracked like winning a game of each minigame, etc. The minigames, casino, and volleyball are there too.
The camera mode is good if you ever wanted to be a swimsuit photographer or something.
And of course, you can fap to it.
    That’s it more or less.

  6. Thanks Ethan and Tara, I was hoping this review made it over to the site as I’ve never played a DOAX game and hearing from a fan who knows what they’re talking about is a must before buying.

It sounds like the pervert aspects are top notch but I’m not a big fan of mini games so I’ll definitely stick to waiting for a sale. There’s a lot of potential in these fanservice type games but I find it hard to justify paying AAA prices for what amounts to a handful of frivolous mini games.

  7. A good, detailed and honest review, thanks Tara (and Ralph).

As a fan-service lover (Queen’s Blade, Sekirei, etc.), the style/modelling of the ladies in DOAX3 does it for me. XD

The game’s main draw is always going to be the fan-service, so judging it on it’s game-play alone (like other reviews have done) would be completely unfair. The main purpose of it is to admire pretty/cute girls so the game succeeds in it’s main objective.

I will say though that it is a bit pricey at the moment for what you get.

Don’t forget, buying/supporting the game can also be considered a stand against the SJW and feminist nonsense.

  8. Never heard about this game, now I feel big interest towards it, thank you for the fair review. I always liked online games, including king kong slot and other gambling activities, they’re very stress relieving.
