FLASH: BMW Pulls out of Gawker

In the middle of writing my NeoGAF story, I’ve just been told that BMW has withdrawn advertising from Gawker Media. The email specifically states that they do not tolerate bullying of any sort, and comes fresh on the heels of the Mercedes decision last week, when they also pulled out of Gawker.

Everything is paying off, so keep on going. Don’t let up on Gawker, or any of our other foes. Keep those emails pouring ins. Even in the face of the most negative media onslaught I’ve ever witnessed in my life, we are still fucking winning. Keep it up, GamerGate.

Here’s the email below:

UPDATE 3: I don’t think Gawker editor-in-chief Max Read gets it, yet. Here he is making sexist comments to Christina Hoff Sommers earlier today. Perhaps the advertisers would like to hear about this as well?

Remember, last week trolls posted a fake email response from Google to mess with pro-GamerGate folks and make GG look like a collection of gullible idiots.

  Oh… I just ignored that… you mean to tell me people fell for it? Well, can’t be helped, some of us are REALLY young (got a 14 year old that’s in GG because “picking on gamer, or any body, and lying in general is just wrong”). I’d give some of our younger comrades some slack. We have people from their teens to the elderly in on this, some of them are not as tech/media savvy (not saying that as an offence ofc!)

    No one fell for it AFAIK, but it was circulated with the words “Can anyone confirm?” or something along those lines until someone spotted the trolls joking about it on twitter, iirc.

do they not even understand what it is they are saying? or do they just not really believe in it? They are so deeply hypocritical and un self aware. I’ve seen a lot of them use “autistic” as an insult. Anyone else outside of their circle does something like that, and they’ll jump on them. Don’t say “retard” because you’re not just insulting the person, but implying to everyone that suffering from mental disability makes you a lesser person!

  I guess you didn’t hear – it’s totes okay when anti-#gamergate people are racist and sexist, because they’re doing it for a righteous cause or some such crap. Really, I’m more of a tabletop gamer, I suck at videogames, but I got on board early with #GamerGate because I hate bullies. And that’s what this SJW crap is – out and out bullying.

      It already is being used against us; the standard SJW tactic is to take some innocuous thing out of context, gin up a shrieking hate mob, and ruin some person’s credibility, cost them their job, and drive them out of polite society. Returning the favor is just playing the game by the rules the SWJs have established. Otherwise (for example) they get to have as one of their elites someone who literally promoted Nazi ideology and it’s out of bounds for us to point that out, while they pounce at every minor thing they can.
