EDITOR’S NOTE: There’s a new operation that’s been getting a lot of attention over the last day or so, and I want to reprint it here to give it as much shine as possible. I’m not sure if it will do any good or not, but it’s worth at least exploring. So, here’s the op, reprinted down below. It was written by Thurin, and he got the DeepFreeze stuff, from, fittingly enough, DeepFreeze. Let me know what you think of the initiative down below as well. I’ll be back shortly with another post. I’m catching back up after a drama-filled week.
First read these: http://deepfreeze.it/journo.php?j=Samit_Sarkar , http://deepfreeze.it/journo.php?j=Alexa_Ray_Corriea
A grand total of:
27 unethical articles/mentions about Disney infinity.
15 unethical articles about Harmonix.
It’s ridiculous that despite the FTC going to Gawker, despite a huge ethic reform, we see shit like this. When we first saw it allot of us (I hope) sent emails to Polygon telling them about this, we were obviously ignored.
So now it’s time to escalate. Enter #OpPolygone
We’re taking this to the FTC, I’ve already spoken to someone there and been given the all clear, but, to prove everything checks out here is what I have found from the FTC:
Truth in Advertising: https://www.ftc.gov/news-events/media-resources/truth-advertising
Advertisement endorsements: https://www.ftc.gov/news-events/media-resources/truth-advertising (notice that it says this applies to blogs)
Endorsement guide: https://www.ftc.gov/tips-advice/business-center/guidance/ftcs-endorsement-guides-what-people-are-asking
With that out of the way, I’ve done a very easy step by step guide for those of you who don’t know where to even begin, it’s very easy and will take you about 5-10 minutes.
Before we begin, here is the site you will need: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt&panel1-1
Maximize it if the words are all jumbled.
There are 7 steps in total, I’ve made it very quick and easy for you all. If you already know what you’re doing skip to step 4 and 6
Entire album if it cocks up: http://imgur.com/a/yrT0g

Step 1: Go the the FTC site, click on Internet services.
Step 2: Click on Internet Gaming.
Step 3: Skip the second page “Complaint details”
Step 4: Copy and paste this in then click on Add another company you should have a total of 5:

http://deepfreeze.it/journo.php?j=Samit_Sarkar
http://deepfreeze.it/journo.php?j=Alexa_Ray_Corriea
In your own words and make sure you link it in the description.
Tip: It’s a conflict of interest. It’s unfair to consumers and to content creators who need Polygon for fair, unbiased coverage.
Step 7: Double check you have 5 contacts for the FTC, a way for them to contact you and the you have the DeepFreeze link in the comment section.
Optional: Post the end screen for moral, remember to cover up the reference number, just to be safe.

Thanks Ralph, hopefully this will get the gears of ethics crankin’ full speed.
We need to get back to OPs and shit. Fuck all this drama and infighting, fuck PR and charities. It’s all a distraction.
Dig, expose, report, attack.
THIS. SO MUCH THIS.
GamerGate does its finest work when it puts its nose to the proverbial grindstone…or, rather, puts shitty journos’ noses to the actual grindstone.
GamerGate needs to let ED and a few others deal with the Pedophile Nyberg stuff so that it can shift its focus back to annihilating video game journalism’s sleazy assholes.
I agree that Butts should absolutely face retribution for the kiddie diddling bullshit, but she shouldn’t be the primary focus of GamerGate.
As soon as law enforcement makes a declarative statement on the issue, is when #GamerGate will refocus, we’ve always been drowning in narrative, #OpPolyGone will engage the @FTC the ftc will do its job and we will be further into the future they chose, salt and drama will follow in the wake.
Jesus, lord knows we could use a break from all the drama.
I agree. It’s great seeing something like this on Ralph’s site. It’s not even like aGGro can do anything about this. What they going to do email the FTC with unrelated bullshit lol.
well, if people wouldn’t keep kissing up to someone who decides they are a GG persona, it wouldn’t matter.
I like this OP. I sent in the info to the FTC using the given instructions. It’s all in their hands now.
TL;DR Fuck Polygon/Vox Media
It’s good to see this kind of things get done again.
Finally. Polygon gets its time in the sun yet again. Also we should keep up on the GamerGate Journo Operations.
All I want for X-Mas is a response from the FTC…. and a 3DS XL and splatoon >>;
Fuck. Yes. Thank you OP for this whole layout. This is exactly the kind of operation we’ve been needing for awhile. It’s something all branches of gamergate can get behind, it’s something we can all do to meaningfully contribute to our cause, and it hits a website that has long been on our collective shit list without having to worry about the specifics of politics or arguments.
A well timed pickmeup for GG. Well played good sir, well played.
I know Polygon is shit and don’t get me wrong I want to see them burned to the ground but can anyone give me a good case we could use against them with the FTC? Last time the FTC and gaming got involved was with Mass Effect 3 and that ended up hurting us.
This looks good. We’ve had a lot of wins with Ops like this in the past. We need to continue with stuff like this to make changes. Nothing will change if we idle, since these people are corrupt and don’t want to admit it.
Done. Here’s my snip:
See image.

Please don’t do this. Put the city as Washington and the State as District of Columbia; there’s an option for it. I know this was straight from the pastebin because it had the same error.
It’s nitpicking and I’m sure they know what you mean, but there you go.
Also it only takes like, five minutes to do this. So everyone should do it.
Furthermore, all addresses in D.C. have a diagonal quadrant –
it’s
1201 Connecticut Avenue NW
New Icon, same virus seller.
