I want to send a shoutout to Candace Owens. I know she’s been going through a lot the last couple days, as her post from yesterday afternoon detailed, but the interview we did is one of my favorite moments from the work I’ve done here on the site. I made sure to get that up no matter what, even though I was super busy packing up my shit. So, thank you once again, Candace…and I hope the readers here enjoyed it just as much as I did.

Speaking of Ms. Owens, right around the time her piece came out yesterday, New York Magazine’s Jesse Singal put out a post that basically sought to insulate Zoe Quinn and Randi Harper from any blame for their role in helping to torpedo Social Autopsy’s Kickstarter, even though Randi admitted responsibility for it in her Medium post. Not only that, he was far from objective, even though he had promised Candace that he would be when she talked to him during the process. She said that she won’t attack him, but, allow me.

When I think of dishonest press hacks, Mr. Singal’s face is one of the first things that pops into my head. This isn’t the first time he’s said one thing to an interview subject, then printed another. He acts as an SJW propagandist 90% of the time, which is funny, because many of them have rejected his whole career because of one fair post he wrote about radical transgender activists. You would think that might be a wake-call for Jesse, but instead, he’s desperately trying to crawl back into their good graces with pieces like the one from yesterday. It’s pathetic and sad, but also par for the course for many of these “reporters.” If they get on the wrong side of the nuts they court with their writing, they will do anything to make it up, even lie about people like Candace.

You'll never make these psychos happy, Jesse.
You’ll never make these psychos happy, Jesse.

Speaking of that post, the funniest part of it, at least for me, was how he labeled TheRalphRetort.com a “far-right blog.” As Breitbart’s Charlie Nash noted, his site was only called “right-wing” by the same author. I’m not sure how I got to be considered further to the right than Breitbart itself, but I will of course wear it with a badge of honor…even though I don’t really consider myself right-wing. As I noted last summer, I am an independent after years of considering myself a liberal. The reason I left their fold is because of people like Jesse Singal. If you differ on feminism, immigration, and the progressive grievance culture, they call you right-wing. Even if you’ve been a liberal your whole life, like I was at that point, you will be made an outcast by these types.

I used to get mad when I thought about that, but now it makes me smile. I’m happy to be my own man and consider the issues based on their merits instead of whatever left-wing dogma is being touted as the official position that everyone needs to have in order to be considered a member in good standing. Making your own way is much better. I know from experience that I’ve pissed off both leftists and right-wingers on this site and I’m sure I will continue to do so. All I can do is be me and tell it how it is. Expect to see the same sort of material that you’ve come to know and hopefully love over the last couple years. I won’t change my style for anyone or any outlet. Worthless hubs like KotakuInAction can cry all they want, but while they do nothing, I will continue to make waves.

It’s just what I do.

On a side note, I know not all of you agree with Ms. Owens on her Social Autopsy initiative. As I’ve said before, it’s not really my thing, either. But, she’s a joy to talk to and the woman is truly fearless. Going on the record with me in such a public way was very brave and she has caught heat for it from all corners. Instead of backing down, she has doubled down. I wish her the best in all her endeavors, even though I may not agree with them. I don’t consider her an SJW at all, given her dealings with me. But, as of now, unless more news breaks, I’m going to be moving on to other topics and stories. I’ve had a lot of fun with this, though, so don’t expect me to be leaving the beat if something else happens.

I hope you’re all ready for more, because I’m just warming up.
