OK, I have a few updates to get to this evening. The first one is about Ellen Pao, the interim CEO of Reddit (better known to many of you as Chairman Pao). She finally put up a statement on the actual Reddit site last night, after apologizing to the mainstream media first. One would think that she could see what a problem that was, but then again, maybe not. Here’s a snippet from the apology:

“Today, we acknowledge this long history of mistakes. We are grateful for all you do for reddit, and the buck stops with me,” Pao said in a statement posted on the site. “The mods and the community have lost trust in me and in us, the administrators of Reddit.”

Pao said “we screwed up” and acknowledged that the administrators “haven’t communicated well.”

It all seems to be too little, too late. The petition calling for her to step down has now passed 200,000 signatures. While it’s in no way binding, it’s not a good look to have that many people voting no confidence in the leader of your company. Hopefully it hits 300K by the end of the week. Pao needs to go. I think that much is obvious. In fact I would probably clear out all the current leadership, not just her.op4WsAi

I’ll be back with a story on Kamiya in just a minute, so stay tuned for that. I’m trying to play catch-up, since there’s a lot going on. Also, Milo has an update for us on the Big Randi Trilogy:

  1. You honestly have to ask what kind of incompetent lunatic would appoint her in a leadership position in the first place…
Fact that she isn’t gracefully stepping down at this point just shows her lack of awareness…

    1. Or it shows how arrogant she is to assume that people will flock to her defense because of sexism. Watch. She’ll eventually complain that most of the people that signed the petition to get her axed are men.

  2. Pao apologizes not to Redditors, but to potential investors she was probably already in negotiations with. This is simple damage control. She miscalculated, believing Reddit would just put up with it, and now the media is spinning like crazy in her defense (like CNN did by completely redoing their article on it to include her comment).

She won’t go for 300k on change.org anymore than she would for 150k. She doesn’t understand why people find fault in her and probably never will.

    See you on Voat, GGers.

    1. She understands. she’s a scam artist, she just doesn’t give a shit. She knows exactly what she’s doing but the money is slowly slipping away. She’s been proven to be an arrogant incompetent executive and a straight up liar. Damage control damage control damage control. Her golden parachute has a massive hole in it

    2. Yeah I’m glad I was never a redditor, she’s probably going to get the boot but the overall culture of the leadership probably wont ever change at this point. Once a group of people go SJW they never back down, they just squabble with each other as they stubbornly cling to the ships they themselves have caused to sink.

Short of reversing all her policies and firing every single one of her cronies shit aint really gonna change over there.

  3. Another person/company that makes an apology only after its mistakes have spread all over the web and they can’t ignore it anymore. What a surprise.

  4. Did the supreme court just approve Pao’s hetero gay marriage? Just when I didn’t think the freak show could get any more bizarre.

  5. “Today, we acknowledge this long history of mistakes”

O RLY? So you’ve rehired Victoria then? No? Well then, I suppose you aren’t really acknowledging shit, are you, so fuck off.

  6. In her apology, she outlines that she thinks the issue is a lack of communication and not the totalitarian-style censorship that she is having implemented.

That speaks volumes to her competency level.

  7. I wonder does Pao realise that she’s only an interim CEO and therefore is more disposable? It really does make one wonder why she hasn’t been made a CEO yet. I reckon Reddit need a scapegoat.

  8. “Today, we acknowledge this long history of mistakes…and the buck stops with me” Translation = “It’s not my fault, I’ve only been in charge of 8 months”.
