It’s been a busy few days for me since my return, although a good portion of that has had to do with “real life” stuff such as car maintenance, etc. It turns out that being absent from society for 8 months leaves a lot of grunt work for you to do when you get back. Speaking of grunt work, I have a bit of that to do here on this site as well. As you can probably tell, the site is running a lot slower than I would like and there’s been some 404 errors here and there. I think the error issue has been addressed (let me know if you see any of those, please), but the speed one has not.
So, this weekend I plan to migrate to another server. As a result, the site might be unreachable for a period of time while things are sorted out. It’s a necessary evil at this point. Nora is coming into town on Saturday, so I was already going to be away from my desk. Since that’s the case, I’ll try to make Saturday the day/evening of the transfer. Also, I’m going to consider reducing the amount of ads on the site by around 20% or so, at least for the desktop experience. I’ve seen sites with a more annoying setup, but there’s a few too many on this site right now.
As always, you can support the site in other ways, such as Patreon. I’m going to be working on that as well over the next few weeks. I always struggle to come up with goals and stuff like that, so let me know if one of you has an idea to improve the offerings. I will be running that topic over in my mind as well. I want to give a special thank you to the people who have remained Patrons, especially since there hasn’t been much interaction over there the last 8 months.
I have a lot of plans for ramping up operations around here and going beyond where I was before I had to leave. But most of these are going to take some weeks to get going, mainly due to the “real life” stuff I talked about in the open. I wanted to thank everyone once again for sticking around and I hope you will enjoy TRR more than you ever have once we get up to full speed in the near future. I’m not going to stop posting in the interim, though, so be on the lookout for new material this morning.
