I didn’t waste my time watching the bogus CNN struggle session on guns that aired last night. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t really do anything all that productive in place of that, but still, I couldn’t bring myself to consume that garbage. It’s not because I’m a rabid gun rights supporter who opposes any and all restrictions on gun ownership. That’s not me. In fact, when I first saw these kids on my TV screen talking about their experiences and how they planned to fight for change, I was even somewhat sympathetic. But as time wore on and the media hype machine kept trying to force feed me their talking points on a 24-hour loop, my mind has gradually shifted into resentment. Do these children think they are the only ones who have ever had to deal with a tragedy? Do they think that because they lived through a shooting that their political preferences trump everyone else’s?

Fuck that. I reject all this media-driven advocacy. Plus, you just knew that the CNN forum was going to turn into a one-sided setup…and that’s exactly what happened. The tragedy pimps in charge didn’t even pretend to be fair. Not only that, it turns out they stacked the deck from the very beginning.

CNN had originally asked me to write a speech and questions and it ended up being all scripted.

Colton Haab, the kid in the video above, wrote questions about school safety and also came up with a somewhat brilliant idea: have veterans act as armed security guards at schools. But when CNN asked him to use one of their scripted questions instead, the young lad refused to participate.

Good on him. Now it’s on the rest of use to throw that whole forum in the trash as well, just like he did.
