Before I get into my main stories for this evening, I wanted to briefly spotlight a recent discovery by FartToContinue. He located Phil Fish’s old DeviantArt account, and it has some interesting factoids directly from the horse’s mouth. Fish should have done a better job scrubbing his shit, I guess. Let’s examine some of the excerpts.

Here’s the first key entry from Fish:pol5Bsn

As you can see, this is Phil Fish directly addressing Shawn McGrath’s departure over creative differences. A few months later, he posted another entry. He had finally found himself a new partner, but the question is, how much of McGrath’s work did these two steal? We do know Fish can’t actually create any code, by his own admission. I don’t want to make it sound like he did nothing on the game, though, as art is pretty fucking important lol. Still, him getting all this credit in the press is a little insane.

It would take McGrath having some balls for us to get confirmation that Fish robbed his code, so I won’t hold my breath. He’s likely afraid that the SJWs will try and ruin his career. Given the ties Fish has/had I think he’s probably right. But if no one ever stands up against this sort of thing, the thievery will never stop. GamerGate will continue to dig, but without McGrath coming clean, I’m not sure if Phil Fish will ever be fully exposed.

  1. It’s unfortunate that people like McGrath can’t see Gamergate is creating an environment where you need no longer fear the press.
The more people cast their lot in with us, the more powerful we are, and the less chance they have of getting bullied in the future.
What need has a ”developer” of indie games of the press/other indie devs anyway. Your game is good?Shoot a few copies to some youtubers. Put that shit on Greenlight.
    Wham,success almost guaranteed.

    1. Exactly! How after almost 6 months you still feel like we are just gonna go away is beyond me!

If everyone stood up at once then media would have no power anymore and the indie scene could clean up its act finally!

  2. I’m just going to focus on the fact the game could’ve been called “Einz, zwei, drei” and laugh my ass off

  3. A consistent problem I’ve noticed with the people who get fucked by this San Fran Indie/Press circlejerk is that not only do they seem to be afraid to stand up for themselves for fear of being attacked but they also seem to stay quiet for fear of being the one who turns the entire mess into a smoking crater by dragging in outside forces.

It’s sad because firstly it’s basically Stockholm syndrome and secondly because it’s now going to be a crater no matter what anyway. Shawn should nut up and at least get himself a multi-million dollar lawsuit out of this.

  4. Well if someone’s too much of a bitch to stand up for themselves, fuck em, they get what they deserve. I wasn’t impressed with Fez, never understood the appeal anyway, and this McGrath tool’s other game looks like he slapped tempest and wipeout together.

Man when can we all get off these peddlers’ of 80’s graphics looking games dicks, and demand quality again? If I make some game and watch ripoffs, will that be the next big indie sensation? Or maybe I’ll make a mattel action football game with red dots as graphics, and I’ll be an indie darling.

      1. True, but it’s becoming an overused gimmick like lens flare and cel shading were at one time. I don’t spend hundreds on consoles and graphics cards for 8 or 16 bit graphics.

  5. For me and my game buddies Fez was never that “AMAZING” game that all the sites kept praising. It had a few good ideas and that was it. If McGrath has any balls whatsoever and wants to be taken seriously, he does indeed need to step up.
