You know what always gets to me? The way all these SJWs bitch about “whitewashing” and cultural appropriation, but then turn around and try to steal white characters like James Bond, or redo the Ghostbusters franchise with an all-women cast. If it’s OK for you guys to steal the roles of white men, what the problem with some Asian roles being played by white people in general? Hell, the main one that I’ve seen them complain about is from the Ghost in the Shell movie that’s about to come out and that part is filled by Scarlett Johansson. She’s a woman, how you can you criticize women, you patriarchal shitlords?

According to Bustle, the whole tag (#whitewashedOUT) was at least in-part inspired by Margaret Cho, who I guess took a short break from (allegedly) being too fucked up to perform her comedy routine for paying customers.

Social media users took to Twitter on Tuesday, using the hashtag #whitewashedOUT to strike back at Hollywood’s erasure of Asians. The Nerds of Color teamed up with We Need Diverse Books and Margaret Cho to organize the Twitter movement and “take a stand against whitewashing” in honor of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month…

Months ago, when filmmakers announced that Scarlett Johansson would play Ghost in the Shell’s lead, Major Motoko Kusanagi, fans demanded to know why a Japanese actress had not been selected instead of the Avengers star. It soon came to light that the Ghost in the Shell production team ran tests to make white actors appear Asian using CGI, reinvigorating the outrage. At least one fan asked Johansson to step down from playing Kusanagi, who is now referred to exclusively as “Major,” and fellow Marvel actress Ming-Na Wen took to Twitter to express her displeasure with Johansson’s casting.

Some of the tweets are hilariously melodramatic, considering we’re talk about movies and television shows. Oh, and keep this in mind: Asians only make up 5.6% of the U.S. population. Why do they think there would be such a huge demand for them when it came time to pick actors? I haven’t seen an analysis, but I bet they’re pretty close (or even over) filling that number already.

I would pass, but this is my job.

Well, maybe you should import some shows from Japan or China? That might help.

OK, that one was good.

Oh, God, not this huckster.

“Becky.” There’s certainly nothing racist about that!

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Asia is rather large, right?

Good job, Hannah.

If you’re this goofy about FICTION, I don’t know what to tell you. Personally, I like good stories no matter what race or sex is involved. I know these ideologues will tell me that’s because of my white cis male privilege, but whatever. Maybe it’s just my sane person privilege, which seems to be in short supply among these tweeters.
