YouTube has been cracking down on WrongThink channels for a while. The social media giant used the Pewdiepie debacle as an excuse to clean house. They started to demonotize more and more right-leaning channels, and when people complained about that, they introduced ‘restricted monetization’ which is basically just as bad. Restricted monetization means that your video is still monetized but at a reduced level. People are making a fraction of what they used to.
Now, YouTube is restricting videos that do not align with their ideology. Mr. Dapperton had his video, “Debunking White Privilege“, restricted almost immediately after uploading it.
Restricted videos have certain features such as comments, sharing, views, and like/dislike stats turned off. And obviously, the videos are demonetized as well. Also, if you’re in the UK, you will not be able to watch videos that marked as restricted. I tried to watch Mr. Dapperton’s video earlier and this is what popped up.
It’s absolutely absurd. Restricting videos because it contains ‘content that may be inappropriate or offensive to some audiences’ is ridiculous. Everything offends someone in the world. Electric dance music offends me but you don’t see me trying to get Skrillex kicked off the internet.
I got restricted for either sharing a nazi wearing a swastica getting flipped off in a cartoon, or because I said white privilege doesn't exist, or because I shared black crime statistics. I swear YouTube's logic has more holes than Batman's parents.

According to the YouTube guidelines, videos that contain ‘inflammatory religious or supremacist content without a direct call to violence or a primary purpose of inciting hatred,’ can expect to be restricted. Why do I feel like this will only apply to certain skin tones and religions? Also, Mr. Dapperton’s video had nothing to do with white supremacy. In fact, I’ve seen him take the piss out of actual white supremacists several times.
We’re probably going to see this happen more and more. I wouldn’t be surprised if I saw YouTube shut down InfoWars or even TheRalphRetort. And if you thought you were safe on Twitter or Facebook, I’m sorry to disappoint you.
Don’t forget, we’re hosting a stream to celebrate TheRalph’s return on February 2nd at 7:30 pm EST! See you guys then.
