(I’ve been trying to wrap my head around this story for the last couple of hours, so here goes.)

The past few nights, I’ve actually been getting a lot of sleep, which is good. There’s only one downside: I miss out on the overnight happenings. Not to fear, though. We have the loyal soldiers on Twitter to give us the rundown. The headline does kind of give you a little bit of a spoiler, though, now that I think of it. Well, just pretend like you know nothing.Again, this is a short rundown, because I want to go get my drink on before I finish the “Merry Christmas” column for later. So, in keeping with the spirit of that, let me give you a brief recap, followed by some tweets. A guy who goes by the name of @FoldableHuman (Dan Olson) on Twitter put out a hit piece on 8chan last night. In it, he linked to numerous instances of child pornography, by his own definition. I didn’t go through and check them all out, to be sure. So I cannot comment further than that.

But I think the thing Mr. Olson fails to grasp is, 8chan is not one man’s personal site. It’s a tool that can be used by anyone to spread any type of information. So when the owner, Fredrick Brennan, is alerted to posts like the ones this loser highlighted, he takes them down. He doesn’t make a blog post to highlight them for all his pedo buddies. He simply takes action.

Also, I find it funny that the SJWs want to “understand” pedos when they’re on NeoGAF, but use flimsy evidence to try to take down Mr. Brennan. What about 4chan, for that matter? They have the same type of material. Why are they not singled out? Is it because they got rid of GamerGate? I guess they get a pass now that they did what they were told.

This isn’t Arthur Chu, of course lol. It’s our old friend Ian Miles Cheong!

It’s too early to say how this thing will break, but if you want to report any of these loons to the FBI, feel free. Here are the relevant links. I would say they’re way more guilty of spreading child porn than Hotwheels Brennan (or 8chan) ever was. They’re also fast at work trying to spread other lies about us, as you can see below. No, we aren’t the ones who take websites offline, lady. That would be you SJW scum.

  1. Lindsay has always been a shitty SJW, but she have shown her true colors now. She is on the side of a guy who downloaded child porn! She is awful .

  2. she’s also using the blockbot, confirming her inability to see reason. At least ToddInTheShadows conceded that there are decent people in Gamergate, there’s still hope for them if that blockbot disappears.

  3. FTR, apparently the pics in question were suggestive pictures of *clothed* children, which isn’t legally considered child porn, at least under US law. Of course, if the SJWs *thought* it was child porn they were redistributing, that’s potentially illegal. And if they admit it was never child porn, then they admit that they’re a bunch of hypocritical liars conducting a witchhunt.

Ironically, it MAY be legally considered child porn, and hence illegal to redistribute, in Canada… where Dan Olson lives.

    1. Yep, there’s nothing that he links to that would be legally considered child porn in the US, where 8chan is hosted. (That said, I think the kind of “child modeling” stuff he highlights is ethically sketchy at best, though all 8chan is doing is pirating images that are sold for profit elsewhere.) Olson smugly thinks Canadian law should apply everywhere. What’s worse, is that he things *drawings*, where no actual flesh-and-blood children or anybody else are actually harmed, should be the subject of legal prosecution and Internet censorship.

Along with his soft spot for trendy neo-Leninist Zizek, it doesn’t exactly speak well of this asshole.

        1. I’d readily acknowledge that. Canada’s free speech protections aren’t as strong, and, of course, it’s up to Canadians if they want to change it or not.

That said, 8chan isn’t a Canadian site subject to Canadian law. And if Foldable Human really wants to apply the standard of “local law applies everywhere”, well, North Korea has just weighed in on that one.

        2. In Canada, it’s all considered child porn. Canada and Australia both have child porn laws that specifically include drawn or animated pornography. Canada also considers stories (even fiction) about child molestation to be an offence

          See: http://www.efc.ca/pages/law/cc/cc.163.1.html

163.1 (1) In this section, “child pornography” means

          (a) a photographic, film, video or other visual representation, whether or not it was made by electronic or mechanical means,

          (i) that shows a person who is or is depicted as being under the age of eighteen years and is engaged in or is depicted as engaged in explicit sexual activity, or(ii) the dominant characteristic of which is the depiction, for a sexual purpose, of a sexual organ or the anal region of a person under the age of eighteen years; or

          (b) any written material or visual representation that advocates or counsels sexual activity with a person under the age of eighteen years that would be an offence under this Act.

Also, at the end, there is an exception:

          (6) Where the accused is charged with an offence under subsection (2), (3), or (4), the court shall find the accused not guilty if the representation or written material that is alleged to constitute child pornography has artistic merit or an educational, scientific or medical purpose

  4. I guess I’m going to jail then, along with Mark Zuckerberg, since I post pics of my friends and I in bikinis, with our tongues out sometimes too.

  5. Reminds me of when a SJW made up a story of an attempted child abduction at BABScon, only to remove it when it was pointed out that said SJW, who claimed to be an eyewitness, broke a law by not telling the police, as there was no police report filed.

    1. Last I recall it was at least true that a little girl had ended up staying with a vendor at Babscon out of concern of being followed. But nobody saw the guy & it could of been anyone, not to mention it’s a bit weird that a child is wandering a convention without a parent or guardian accompanying them.

But yes, they didn’t notify con security of the situation, which they should of done, and didn’t contact authorities – instead they made Tumblr posts about it to support the whole “Bronies are creepos” agenda that Tumblr loves to push so hard

      1. Her fabricated story included the kid being “lured away” to a hotel room. It was ludicrous and pretty much every aspect of her story was false. She had previously proven online that she had an irrational hatred of bronies (iirc, because those yucky boys are enjoying “girl’s” things.) And has been banned from attending future conventions for her behavior.

  6. For what it’s worth, one of the more prolific editors on Wikipedia’s Gamergate Controversy talk page and article was banned for daring to suggest that Dan’s actions be included as an example of some of the extremes that people have gone to (on both sides.) To quote the talk before it was taken down “It’s not illegal,” and “Don’t bring that crap here.” Translation: “We only want to post what makes Gamergate look bad, and not the other way around.

      1. A guy by the name of Kitsunedawn. He’d written an entire rewrite of the article in a draft form that was being considered, due to its neutrality and writing, though many of the aGG crowd were complaining that he was being “too soft” on GamerGate for keeping the article from being a biased mess of an echo chamber.

  7. I know Ralph is a turd of a human, but srsly, HW left all that porn up. Fuck that guy, and fuck GG supporters too.

  8. So are we talking about child pornography or…*ahem* something -probably- considered CP if you’re hyper-sensitive/sensationalist?

CP, like a lot of heinous crimes, is getting its definition stretched more and more these days it’s getting confusing and somewhat draconian now, I almost feel like I’m not even allowed to look at children or discuss them anymore. Not that I ever do, god I hate kids.

    1. Well, we don’t look at it so we don’t know. We have to trust the OP. If it is super horrible CP, then he posted it and is fucked. If it isn’t CP and he’s just being hyper-sensitive then he comes across as a douchebag and there was no way his ‘attack’ could ever have worked. Win/win for us at this point.

    2. In the US it’s considered hyper-sensitive, etc., In Canada it’s classified as CP, laws change when you cross a border. He’s technically committed a criminal act here(for USians that’s a federal felony), probably several criminal acts at that. Including retransmission, making it available, and informing others where to find it.

  9. Jesus, these people are psychotic. “Send him happy cute things”? Really lady??? Fucking child pornography apologist. They are scum and I hope the authorities take the reports seriously. Just when you think they can’t go any lower…

  10. Sweet Jesus. The same Dan Olson who accused GG of being sexist, racist and just about any other buzzword he could sling it’s way. These people are batshit insane.

  11. Why allegations of CP on 8chan are irrelevant to GamerGate (but why we should still care):

First, the alleged CP on 8chan was not on the GamerGate board, was not connected to the GamerGate board in any way, and does not involve any gamers at all. So linking it to GamerGate is as ridiculous as linking it to ISIS’ use of Twitter and YouTube.

Then again, gamers are being attacked for their “Trust but Verify” credo, and it is being alleged that they do not apply this to verifying Mr Olson’s article themselves before condemning it. I believe this is completely absurd. “Trust but Verify” refers to credibility and ethics in the face of rampant abuse of trust—it is not an attempt to second-guess the law. Mr Olson himself complains that he found Child Pornography on some image boards on 8chan, then he downloaded, edited and distributed them. There are two possibilities:

    1. The pictures concerned were actual child pornography (as being claimed by Mr Olson), according to law. In that case, his duty (and of others) would have been to simply archive the links and report to 8chan admin, and failing a response from them, reported directly to the police. Not having done that, and instead publicised the images, makes him more guilty of spreading child pornography than 8chan (which is merely a medium like Twitter). This is reprehensible and must be reported, even if Mr. Olson did or did not report the alleged offenders on 8chan. LET THE POLICE JUDGE WHETHER IT WAS CP OR NOT.

    2. If the alleged CP was not actually CP, but barely legal stuff (which I cannot confirm, as I refuse to see the images), according to US law (where 8chan is hosted), then Mr Olson is not only guilty of smearing 8chan’s good name with baseless, sensationalist allegations, but he is ALSO SOLELY GUILTY OF SPREADING CP—as he is the only one who claims that the pictures he found and is publishing are pornographic in nature and involve children. We should not be the judge of this, of course, but should let the police sort it out. Just like when we hear shots being fired in a neighbour’s house, we do not go to investigate ourselves, but call the police instead. This is potentially a very serious crime, and falsely applying Trust but Verify is not going to do any good. This is not a gamer issue, but a human issue, and we’re all humans, aren’t we?
